    On 28 October, CREAL, an ISGlobal research centre, and the European project PASTA invites both experts and citizens interested in mobility to the workshop "Active Transportation and Health" in order to discuss visions, planning conditions, success factors and barriers to implementing relevant measures of active transport (walking and traveling by bike) in Barcelona.

    Launch of new European Code Against Cancer

    The International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC), the specialized cancer agency of the World Health Organization (WHO), today launches the 4th edition of the European Code Against Cancer with the participation of the European Commission. Based on the best available scientific evidence, the new Code provides 12 ways to adopt healthier lifestyles and boost cancer prevention across Europe. It is the outcome of a two-year collaborative work between cancer specialists, scientists, and other experts from across the European Union (EU).

    Would you like to participate in a scientific study?

    CITISENSE, a European project leaded by CREAL (Centre for Research in Environmental Epidemiology) in Barcelona, is currently looking for citizens to collaborate in the study. All we need from volunteers is to place a small pollution sensor outside their home, workplace, school, etc. The collected data will be used to create an updated air pollution model of the city of Barcelona.

    MELODI holds its 6th annual open Workshop on European Research on the Effects of Low Doses of Ionizing Radiation

    Nearly 250 experts, researchers and leaders from the radiation protection research community in Europe, as well as from Asia and America, will gather in Barcelona for 3 days to participate in the 6th International Open MELODI Workshop to address outstanding issues on the effects of low doses of ionizing radiation, generate consensus on the way forward, and sow the seeds for future research projects.

    The international project EXPOsOMICS organizes its annual meeting PRBB

    CREAL is the organizer of the annual meeting of the international project EXPOsOMICS to be held this Thursday and Friday in the Cyprus room Biomedical Research Park of Barcelona (PRBB). During these two days about 40 researchers from 12 research centers in Europe and the United States analyzed, discussed and will share the results until today.

  • Death of Professor Anthony McMichael

    It is with grief that we heard the terribly sad news that Tony McMichael passed away last night after a pulmonary infection. Tony has been a leading environmental epidemiologist, president of the ISEE and has played a pioneering role in developing research on the health risks and burdens from global climate change and other large-scale environmental changes.
