    INSERM CEO and Chairman visits CREAL

    Chairman and CEO of French INSERM, André Syrota, will come to Barcelona to deepen their knowledge of biomedicine in Catalonia. For this reason and for the close collaboration that exists with CREAL, today Professor Syrota will be in our center to talk about all the fruits of our relationship, the European Associated Laboratory (LEA). A laboratory directed by Dr. Francine Kaufman, CESP-INSERM respiratory and environmental epidemiology team director, and Dr. Josep M. Antó, CREAL director.

    About 40 researchers will gather in Barcelona to define different allergic diseases associated with IgE

    Next 29th and 30th June about 40 researchers from around the world and who are part of the research project called MeDALL will meet again to define the different allergic diseases associated with IgE (asthma, rhinitis, eczema, food allergy and anaphylaxis) as well as their phenotypes (so-called classical phenotypes) from childhood to adolescence.

    Judith Garcia-Aymerich receives the 2011 Bronconeumología Files Award

    CREAL researcher Judith Garcia-Aymerich has received the "2011 Bronconeumology Files Award " for the original article published in 2009 which has received more citations in 2010. This award was presented by the Spanish Society of Pneumology and Thoracic Surgery (SEPAR) during its annual meeting held in Oviedo.

    ISEE 2011 reaches the record 1,500 abstracts submitted

    The XXIII Congress of the International Society for Environmental Epidemiology (ISEE-International Society for Environmental Epidemiology) has closed the acceptance of abstracts of research projects with a record of 1,500. Of these 1,500, 420 will be presented in oral sessions and 1,100 will be exposed by posters between 13 and 16 September in the Palace of Congresses in Barcelona where the event will take place.

    Toxic substances affect neurodevelopment

    "We must protect the brains of the future." Thus ended yesterday the conference Dr. Philippe Grandjean 'Toxicity and child development’ that gave in the Cosmocaixa under the INMA Conference 2011.     Barcelona celebrates the Bike Week

    From 13 to 19 June Barcelona hosts the 11th edition of the Bike Week, a series of activities to enjoy and learn more about this form of transport. Bike Week began in 2000, when the city of Barcelona there were only 26,000 daily trips to these two-wheeled vehicles, since then the figure has increased considerably currently standing at more than 106,000 daily trips.

    WHO warns that the relationship between mobile phone use and cancer should be under surveillance

    WHO and the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) has classified the radio frequency electromagnetic fields as possibly carcinogenic to humans (Group 2B) based on an increased risk of glioma, a malignant type of brain cancer1 associated with wireless phone use.
