    Green spaces near your home reduces obesity in schoolchildren


    A scientific study confirms the benefits on health to live near green and blue spaces (forests, parks, lakes, sea, etc) reducing obesity and overweight. The only problem is that researchers have verified that this increases the possibility of allergies but not cases of asthma.

    We would like to announce the resignation of Prof Jonathan Samet as Chair of CREAL’s Scientific Advisory Committee. This has become legally necessary due to commitments of Prof Samet with US Government committees.

    MCC-Spain analyzes data cancers studied over the past seven years

    On 13 and 14 November CREAL, with the collaboration of the Institute of Health Carlos III, organized the annual meeting of all research centers participating in the research project MCC-Spain, studying the causes of various cancers (colorectal, breast, stomach, prostate and chronic lymphocytic leukemia). This year was held at the Foundation for the Promotion of Biomedical and Health Research in the Region of Valencia (FISABIO) and met a total of 40 researchers from 17 centers CIBERESP (Epidemiology and Public Health).

    The European Respiratory Society recognizes Dr. Josep M. Antó for his sustained contribution to research in the respiratory field

    The European Respiratory Society (ERS) ERS has launched a prestigious award to recognize excellence in contributions to research, education and clinical leadership in respiratory medicine. Dr Josep M. Antó, CREAL Director, has received this recognition and he is now among the 129 Foundation fellows.

    The first ISGlobal-CREAL joint doctoral symposium was held at the Barcelona Biomedical Research Park (PRBB) on 13 November. The aims of this event were to increase the visibility of doctoral-level research within ISGlobal and CREAL, to create opportunities for collaboration and to encourage synergistic interaction between the researchers through scientific collaborations.

    PHENOTYPE calls for input through Stakeholder Survey

    The scientific community is increasingly encouraged to connect with civil society and the policy domain, to optimise the benefit of research investment and ensuring practical application of obtained knowledge. Because the field of Natural Spaces Infrastructure is no exception, the PHENOTYPE project team intends to better understand the actual background and needs of professionals in these sciences. To this aim, professionals in natural space and infrastructure are invited to provide input through the online questionnaire addressing scientific knowledge transfer and collaborations between research and other professions.
