Citizen science workshop on air quality in the Science Week

On November 16th, took place at the Sagrada Familia Library an introductory workshop on citizen science to evaluating the air quality in Barcelona organized by CREAL, an ISGlobal allied centre. The workshop, as part of the Science Week, is addressed at both researchers and the general public.

The event, attended by about twenty people, was organized by Irene Eleta, postdoctoral researcher CREAL, who announced the plan of the participatory workshops of the ESAIRE project. In this introductory workshop, Eleta explained what is citizen science: bringing science to society through the cooperation of citizens in scientific projects, for example, to assess air quality in the city of Barcelona during everyday activities. In addition, technicians and researchers give some demonstrations of instruments for evaluating air quality from projects CITI-SENSE (CREAL), iSPEX (ICFO), and Smart Citizen Kit (Fab Lab).

After the presentations, the session ended with a social meeting between researchers and the public to exchange impressions.
