CREAL celebrates the 18th Week of Science

Tomorrow the 18th Week of Science will begin and CREAL, an ISGlobal research centre, as every year, will be involved with school visits to boys and girls in high school and it has also organized two activities: one on research on water and another on statistics.

On the one hand, on Wednesday November 20th at 18:30 hours will be held the round table 'Current Research of a scarce resource: water' in the Biblioteca Sagrada Familia. In this act will be involved Dr. Cristina Villanueva, CREAL researcher, centre CERCA, who will speak about water contamination, Dr. Narcís Prat , researcher at the Department of Ecology, Faculty of Biology, University of Barcelona, who will address water management , and Professor Josep Maria Gili, a researcher at the Institute of Marine Sciences (ICM- CSIC), who will focuse his speech on research on Antarctica and climate change.

The other activity is 'How to survive a scientific statistic' and will take place on November 29 at 19:00h in the College of Journalists of Catalonia. The CREAL researcher, Dr. Xavier Basagaña, will explain to journalists and others how to understand all kinds of scientific statistics.

From 15 to 24 November Catalonia will celebrate the 18th Week of Science. During this week it will be held all kind of scientific outreach activities in our territory. The central themes of this year are the statistics, water and Einstein on the occasion of the celebration, the 2013, the International Year of Statistics, the International Year of Cooperation in the Field of Water and the commemoration of the 90th anniversary of Albert Einstein’s visit to Catalonia.
