The first Scientific Advisory Committee (SAC) was appointed in June 2006 for a 5-year period, and has been integrated by 17 internationally renowned scientists and chaired by Professor Jonathan Samet (Director of the Institute for Global Health, University of South California, US).

The first SAC members have been: A. Agustí (Institut Clínic del Tòrax, Hospital Clínic de Barcelona, Spain), R. We are deeply grateful for their generous collaboration and want to thank all of them their support and contributions to CREAL during these years that have helped CREAL, as a center, and all of us, as individual researchers, to improve constantly.

CREAL’s SAC has been renewed in 2012. Prof. Jonathan Samet (Director of the Institute for Global Health, University of South California, US) will continue chairing the SAC. The other members of the SAC are: Bert Brunekreef (Institute for Risk Assessment Sciences, University Utrecht, Netherlands), Brenda Eskenazi (Director of the Center for Environmental Research and Children’s Health (CERCH) School of Public Health, University of California, Berkeley – USA), Anne Marie Nybo-Andersen (Member of the Danish National Birth Cohort’s Board of Directors, University of Copenhagen), Neil Pearce (London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, UK), Annette Peters (Head of the Research Units “Epidemiology of Air Pollution Health Effects” and “Epidemiology of Chronic Diseases”, Helmholtz Zentrum, German Research Center of Environmental Health, Nuremberg – Germany and President of the International Society for Environmental Epidemiology), Dirkje S.
