PhD Program

The aim of this PhD Program is to contribute to the training of new researches in the area of health and life sciences, with a clearly interdisciplinary and innovative orientation. The content of the program keeps with the characteristics and areas of knowledge of the research groups of the Department of Experimental and Health Sciences (CEXS) at the Universitat Pompeu Fabra (UPF), Barcelona Municipal Institute of Medical Research (IMIM), Centre of Genomic Regulation (CRG) and other associated institutions.

The program consists of both classes and research. Classes are distributed throughout the first year in the form of different subjects. To maintain the interdisciplinary nature of the program, there is a set of compulsory and elective subjects, allowing the configuration of three different degree tracks:

1. Basic Biomedical Research (BBR)
2. Clinical Research (CR) and
3. Public Health (PH)

Research is carried out simultaneously with classes during the first year, and then continues until submission of the research project during the second year, (obtaining the recognition of minimum research capacity) and lastly, submission of the candidate’s doctoral thesis.
